Marquee Hire Tips

Top ten tips when thinking of hiring a marquee

Regardless of whether it’s a summertime wedding or an office party around the Christmas period, there are several great reasons why you should consider hiring a marquee. As well as being cheaper than most traditional venues, they also allow your imagination to run wild with things like furnishings and decorations.

But to ensure your event or function goes to plan without any problems, here is Arena Event Hire’s top ten tips when thinking of hiring a marquee.

  1. Enquire as early as you can

During peak periods of the year, especially summer, we experience a great deal of demand for marquees. Therefore, as soon as you know the date of your event or function, get in touch and we will let you know about availability.

  1. Establish guest numbers

Although marquees come in various sizes and shapes, it makes sense to confirm how many guests will be attending in advance too. Not only will this help with catering, it also ensures your guests won’t feel cramped or far away from each other inside the marquee.

  1. Come up with a timeframe

When you book your marquee, come up with a timeframe for it to be assembled and dismantled. You won’t want guests to be waiting around or forced out because you didn’t allow enough time.

  1. Pick a sensible location for your event

In order for your marquee to be safe and secure, it will need to be in a location with no underground pipes or cables, no ground obstruction or restricted space, and no overhead obstacles such as trees or power lines.

  1. Choose nice surroundings too!

It might be cheaper and more convenient to erect your marquee on a field or in a garden, but this won’t make a great impression among guests. Instead, choose nicer surroundings such as a stately home or rolling green hills.

  1. Make sure there is enough parking nearby

Guests won’t be in the right frame of mind for your event if they have to endlessly drive around looking for a parking space. So, make sure there is ample parking nearby or at your marquee’s location.

  1. Identify accommodation and transport options for your guests

If guests aren’t driving, want to enjoy a couple of drinks, and then dance the night away, you will need to look for suitable accommodation and transport options in the local area.

  1. Look at the local weather forecast

You might not know what Mother Nature has planned, but it never hurts to check and prepare accordingly. For strong winds and cold temperatures, consider hiring solid walls and extra heating.

  1. Hire the right accessories alongside your marquee

To make the planning and preparation of your event that bit less stressful, hire accessories from us such as tables and chairs, lighting, decorations, and dance floors at the same time as your marquee.

  1. Don’t forget about essential amenities either!

A lot depends on the location of your marquee, but there is a chance you will need to hire essential amenities such as toilets for your guests. A mobile generator may also be required to provide power for lighting, entertainment, catering facilities, and any other electrical equipment.

So there you have it, 10 handy tips to consider when organising the hire of a marquee for your special day, corporate event or party!
